By seeking out exceptional individuals from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences, Caltech fosters an environment where various perspectives are valued because they serve to advance the Institute's academic excellence and intellectual capacity.

The Division of Biology and Biological Engineering is committed to establishing and maintaining the best possible research, educational, and administrative environment. BBE welcomes and supports all of its members, recognizing that we come from many different backgrounds and life experiences. By learning about and celebrating the different origins and backgrounds of our members, we become stronger and more unified in our goal to improve the lives and health of all through doing the best possible science. We are committed to supporting the many communities of scientists and engineers within our overall BBE community and in supporting public science outreach efforts within the local Pasadena and LA County communities. Thus, we strive to develop supportive communities, both at Caltech and outside of Caltech, to support science and scientists.
